USAF Cyber Czar Nominated: Maj. Gen. Richard Webber has been tapped to lead 24th Air Force, the new numbered air force being established under Air Force Space Command to oversee the Air Force’s cyber security activities. Webber is currently assistant deputy chief of staff for operations, plans, and requirements on the Air Staff. Last month, the Air Force announced its choice of Lackland AFB, Tex., as its preferred headquarters site of 24th AF, pending completion of the environmental impact analysis required by US law. The new cyber organization is expected to have about 7,000 personnel when at full strength. Picked to replace Webber on the Air Staff is Maj. Gen. Johnny Weida, who is currently deputy chief of staff for United Nations Command and United States Forces Korea.
