Lt. Gen. Harry Wyatt, Air National Guard director, told defense reporters in Washington, D.C., July 29, 2009, that although the first C-27J Spartan air crews already in training are a mixture of Air National Guard and Army National Guard personnel, the move to an all-blue Air Guard cadre is underway. The Pentagon has shifted the Army-Air Force Joint Cargo Aircraft program to an all Air Force endeavor and, at least for now, reduced the planned buy from 78 to 38 aircraft. Here, the first C-27J aircraft lands in Waco, Tex., on Aug.14, 2008.
