The 12 nations partnered in the Strategic Airlift Capability effort will have their first of three new C-17s at Papa Air Base in Hungary later this month. Here, the new airlifter takes off following a July 14 ceremony for the C-17 at the Boeing final assembly facility in Long Beach, Calif. The SAC expects to stand up its Heavy Airlift Wing, led by USAF Col. John Zazworsky, and receive the first C-17 on July 27. The other two aircraft are to follow in September and October.
