During a sortie on Feb. 6, 2009, a RC-135 Rivet Joint flew the 7,000th combat mission for the surveillance platform's support of operations in Southwest Asia and the Horn of Africa. Here, airmen from the 763rd Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron exit an RC-135 after returning from a mission on Jan. 5, 2009, at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia. RC-135 Rivet Joint aircraft have maintained a constant presence in Southwest Asia since the early 1990s. The aircraft and crew are deployed from Offutt AFB, Neb.
