The 8th Fighter Squadron at Holloman AFB, N.M., took delivery of its first F-22 stealth fighter, Dec. 21, 2009. This aircraft, the unit's new flagship, was formerly assigned to the 1st Fighter Wing at Langley AFB, Va. Holloman's 49th FW is scheduled to field a force of 40 F-22s by the end of 2010, including 20 for the 8th FS and 20 for its sister unit, the 7th FS. The latter already has its full complement.
