President Obama signed into law the Fiscal 2010 defense appropriations bill Dec. 19, 2009. The legislation provides $636.3 billion for the Pentagon, including $128.3 billion for operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Among its earmarks, the Air Force received a plus-up of $2.5 billion to purchase 10 C-17 transport aircraft that it did not request and the White House did not want.
