The Air Force Office of Scientific Research joined forces with NASA, Georgia Tech, Purdue University, and Pennsylvania University earlier this month, according to an Aug. 20, 2009, AFOSR release, to test a new environmentally safe propellant, known as ALICE, for its aluminum powder and ice composition. The team employed a small, all-carbon-fiber, minimum-diameter rocket, shown here on its launch rail.
