Tinkering With Success: Maj. Gen. David Gillett Jr., commander of the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center at Tinker AFB, Okla., earlier this month laid out his strategic objectives for Fiscal 2010, calling for the depot to be “the aerospace logistics provider of choice.” Speaking to the Tinker Management Association April 2, Gillett said the goals are to: meet the customer's aircraft availability requirements, develop and care for people to enable success, increase depot maintenance productivity to maximize opportunities, and improve mission readiness and support. The new goals resemble and build upon those established for 2008, he said. During that cycle, the center secured workload on the B-1B’s F101 engine, E-3 Block40/45 modification project, and KC-10 paint upkeep. It also entered into a lease for the use of the former General Motors industrial plant nearby, which is now called the Tinker Aerospace Complex. Work on the TF33 engine, which powers the B-52H, is moving into the TAC, as are the depot’s sheet-metal shops. (Tinker report by Brandice J. Armstrong)
