For the first time in four years, B-52H bombers and airmen from the 5th Bomb Wing at Minot AFB, N.D., and the 2nd Bomb Wing at Barksdale AFB, La., conducted a combined-training exercise, dubbed Prairie Vigilance 09-2, the goal of which was to test the 5th BW's ability to carry out its Emergency War Order mission. Here, bombers from both units taxi down the Minot runway during a rapid-launch scenario Oct. 28. The exercise, which lasted from Oct. 21 to 28, included aircraft generation/employment and aircrew testing/certification.
