A Delay for Cyber Command?: There may be a slight delay in the announcement of a permanent location for USAF's new Cyber Command, according to the head of the provisional command at Barksdale AFB, La. The Shreveport Times reports that Maj. Gen. William Lord says that the decision "may slip" from February to "a month or two later." Speaking before a local chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Associations Jan. 14, Lord indicated that he gets frequent calls from elected officials representing at least eight states that want to host the new command. Lord currently has about 160 people working to shape up the new headquarters, and he said that the service just started the assignment matching process to find the 541 people that will man the permanent cyber HQ. According to the Times, the Air Force has evaluated 56 bases in its hunt to determine a location for the new command.
