Lockheed Martin and the US Air Force Test Pilot School at Edwards AFB, Calif., have successfully demonstrated the first-ever entirely autonomous landing of an F-16 fighter, the company announced Dec. 9, 2008. For the trial, the pilot school provided a modified two-seat F-16, shown here, that is known as the variable stability in-flight simulator test aircraft.
