Going “Green” Together: According to a Nov. 20 news report by Capt. Greg Hignite, a trip to Europe by US Air Force energy guru Bill Anderson has furthered a "logical expansion" of USAF energy conservation efforts, enlisting the cooperation of Germany and other NATO countries. The Assistant Air Force Secretary for Installations, Environment, and Logistics specifically noted a goal "to connect" with counterparts in the French and British air forces "to build a three-way understanding" about future energy and environmental challenges. He and his team also met with European commercial aviation leaders to urge them, as well as military leaders, to collaborate on production of a "greener fuel" for aviation. Anderson and his team visited a UK-based company working on a bio-synthetic fuel blend to see how that tracks with USAF's current effort to shift its aircraft to synthetic-blend jet fuel.
