Eye on the Ball: The Air Force has decided that its airmen, especially its reservists, are spending far too much time on training outside their mission specialties. In one of his latest notams describing issues that bother him, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Michael Moseley calls it "ancillary training creep." He believes such training now "jeopardizes mission accomplishment." Moseley wants unnecessary training eliminated and the remainder streamlined. This elimination and reduction process would pare 16 courses to nine and give the Air Force "back six million man-hours per year." (You can find the Chief's Scope here under Ancillary Training.)
