Not So Many C-130s: While JASSM looks endangered (see above), other programs that suffered Nunn-McCurdy breaches in the last round of select acquisition reports seem better off. As promised, the Air Force this week has provided answers to basic questions about the future fiscal integrity and operational necessity of the C-130 avionics modernization program, deeming it viable and sound. Air Force acquisition chief, Sue Payton, told reporters Wednesday that the Boeing-led AMP effort contract would proceed, but the service plans to reduce the number of airframes that will be modified from 300 to 220.
