Down One in Georgia?: If the Valdosta Daily Times is correct, at least one of locales vying for USAF's new Common Battlefield Airmen Training center has been knocked out of the running. An editorial in the newspaper states: "The Times has learned that the base [Moody AFB, Ga.] is out of contention for the new CBAT." The Air Force has been considering Moody, Arnold AFB, Tenn., and Barksdale AFB, La., and expects to announce the location in the spring. The Times conceded that "several highly placed officials" said Moody had finished a "distant third" in the CBAT race. Still, the editorial pointed out that Moody had just gained a new wing.
