Doolittle Raiders Honor Navy: Five of the 16 remaining members of the famed World War II Doolittle Raiders paid homage to the seamen and the aircraft carrier USS Hornet, from which the Army Air Forces airmen launched the B-25 raid on Japan just four months after Japanese fighter-bombers wreaked havoc on Pearl Harbor. The five airmen, joined by a Hornet veteran, laid a wreath at the US Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C. The Raiders, who were 80 strong when then Lt. Col. Jimmy Doolittle led them on the bombing run, also visited the newly dedicated Air Force Memorial for a wreath laying ceremony.
