Aircrew Returns Afghan Boy After Heart Surgery: An Air Force Reserve Command C-17 airlifter from March ARB, Calif., with a mixed AFRC and active duty crew, flew a young Afghan boy named Omar Muhammad from Ramstein AB, Germany, back to Afghanistan. The boy had undergone heart surgery at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. His journey had begun over a year ago when his father brought Omar to Forward Operating Base Salerno where a US Army doctor diagnosed his heart problem. The Army medical team coordinated his airlift to the States and subsequent surgery. (Read more here.)
