Krieg Wants CSAR-X Checked Twice: In a rare late Friday afternoon Pentagon press briefing, Pentagon acquisition guru Ken Kreig talked not much about numerous topics. (Officials said Kreig wanted to clarify new business practices mentioned in the QDR.) Questioned about CSAR-X—Air Force Special Operations Command’s program to replace its worn-out fleet of HH-60 combat search and rescue helicopters—Kreig said he has asked the Air Force to review the “overall portfolio of capability that the department has and what they seek to do.” In other words, he wants Air Force leaders to ensure they are on solid ground before proceeding to contract award.
