AMC Aims to Increase C-5 Sorties: Air Mobility Command officials have chosen Dover AFB, Del., as one of three Air Force’s sites that will perform isochronal inspections for the service’s C-5 strategic airlifter fleet. To be named are one Air National Guard and one Air Force Reserve Command site. AMC is reducing the number of ISO sites from eight to three to “increase the availability of C-5 aircraft and reduce supporting costs,” according to an AMC statement. Officials expect the ISO process—a complete examination of a C-5 to find and repair any problem—to become more consistent across the fleet with the aid of central scheduling. They anticipate adding an average of 2.5 availability days to every C-5 or about 300 additional sorties per year.
