Needed—A Primer in Global Strike: Asked what kind of military the US should have available in the region, the three Asian policy experts replied that there was a need for a mobile presence—carrier battle groups and amphibious capabilities. They also noted the recent improvements in long-range strike capabilities—specifically the stationing of USAF bombers at Andersen AFB, Guam. Brookes inexplicably opined that Guam is a long way from Japan and Korea. Hmmmm. Does he know that airplanes can cover those kinds of distances pretty fast, much faster than warships?
