Long Time Passing. A VERY Long Time Passing: Perpetual war protestor Joan Baez is back, offering herself to the nation as an anti-Iraq War voice. The folk-singer, who started with Vietnam War protests more than 40 years ago and hasn’t ever really managed to stop, turned up Monday outside the Bush ranch in Crawford, Tex., to support protesters camped out there. She sang some of the oldies such as “Where Have All the Flowers Gone” and then moved to the side of Cindy Sheehan, whose son Casey died in action in Iraq. “It was the final tear for the overflow,” she explained, “and you can’t stop running water.”
